That's right, we are not alone

The Proposal Guys gave Proposals are Chaos a mention the other day and added their take on RFPs:

But RFP responses is a way of life for many of us in the proposal world- and it is certainly possible to engineer some radical improvements to quality and win rates. Of course qualification is critical – but don’t despair if this is how your market sector happens to operate.

Personally, I have come to the conclusion that the RFP process is like riding a Chicago Transit Authority bus. More on that later.

As previously mentioned, The Proposal Guys are BJ Lownie and Jon Williams and ther blog has many interesting posts and the only blog of recent memory to mention Platini. Great stuff.

You're definitely NOT alone. I submit a proposal at least once a week; some 5 pages, some 30 pages. As much as I try to standardize the process to save time, no 2 are identical. The trick really is not so much how to create a better proposal, but how to pick the RFPs that you really do have a substantial chance of winning. You should check out the RFP Database as a good place to find projects to bid on, but also get something in return for your discarded RFPs.
